yeah. The contents of a bag "alarmed" security guards, and the owner of the bag could not be "immediately" found. All of which probably means that some idiot decided to hit a panic button and the passenger in question was three steps away from his luggage talking to someone else.

Oh, the bag went through "secondary screening". And was deemed "safe".

They're doing their damndest to destroy air travel, it seems to me.

oh, and one more thing - security lockdown, my foot. Jay got a public blog post out to a public place. Hundreds of other passengers must have emailed, blogged, phoned. The most dangerous thing out there is not an 8-ounce bottle of bloody Evian, it's clear communication - you can foul up any plan, no matter how brilliant, if you interrupt communications so that individual cogs can't talk to each other - somebody somewhere is going to go off half-cocked and premature and you can mop up the rest at your leisure.

But panicking because a bag could not be velcroed to its owner every second of their mutual sojourn in a terminal... and *locking down an entire airport because of it*... is insane.
