Sometimes Fred is smarter than I am. Reading the galleys of Escapement this afternoon, I came across this line of mine, which I had forgotten.

“If you have lived the sort of life where only one great mistake was possible, I sorrow for you.”

Somehow, this seems very apropos this year.
