This is Lisa, giving you all a quick update on Jay. He’s out of surgery and doing well. He’s currently in recovery.

There were, however, more tumors than expected. They’ve all been dealt with, either by excision or radio frequency ablation.

I’ll post more later when I know more details.

>> more tumors than expected

Oh no. While I'm glad to hear they've been excised, I'm sorry they were there at all. Serenity, courage, and wisdom to you all. (Actually, perhaps "not-going-gentle" would be more useful therapeutically than serenity; and might be more natural to Jay as well... . But at any rate, courage and wisdom!)

Thanks for taking time out to post an update, Lisa. I'm really glad he's out of surgery and miserable that there were more tumors than expected, dammit. Healing wishes are flowing his (and your) way.

Knock 'em dead, Jay. Sorry to hear that some of Ashcroft's compatriots showed up. (If you need to name them, I have a little list, and they'd none of them be missed.)

I must say, though, that if you're trying to lose weight, there are easier ways.

Best Regards,
Rick Moen

Post-op, Jay posted to Twitter (about 5AM-ish, Portland time):

Conscious, lucid and bored in the ICU. Wondering what the tumors in my omentum and diaphragm mean. Hello, world

'Diaphragm' would be the thoracic diaphragm, the muscular sheet whose motion draws air into the lungs. 'Omentum' would be one of two membranes inside the abdominal cavity.

Late morning, several more tweets: Tissue samples were sent off for gene sequencing, and he was moved out of the ICU to surgical oncology ward, and had walked a bit before going there.
