Yesterday we enjoyed some smoked pork butt and smoked chicken courtesy of Team E—. As usual, the meat was fantastic.

Smoked meat party

There was also smoked avocados, green salad (my style, including chicken croutons), chips and dip, banana nut muffins (made by the Niece) and Mama Dudley cake (made by my (step)mom). Mmm mmm mmm.

Smoked meat party

Because nothing is worth doing that is not worth doing to wretched excess.

Yeah, baby. Take chicken tenders (I get 'em at the grocery store deli, the spicy ones). Chop them down to almost minced, about 1/4" or less bits. Throw some olive oil in a pan, heat it up, drop the tenders in, sprinkle liberally with paprika, garlic salt, black pepper, add rock salt to taste. Sautee on medium-to-medium-high heat until they are crunchy and brown.

Addictive little bastards, and surely seven kinds of heart attack on a plate, but they do zing up green salad a treat.

I, uh... need to buy... um... cat food? Coffee filters!

Total justification, yeah.

Whatever you do, don't put them in a ramekin and mix in a little ranch dressing and eat with a fork. Just don't. Trust me.

No worries on that score... I don't care for ranch dressing, and have no idea what a ramekin is.

I'm thinking they would probably also go well in some scrambled eggs with salsa.

That was my question too. Not that I'd eat them. Even though I had avocados for the asking for seven years, I have never been able to stand them.

Guacamole being what it is to the cooking round here, it's fortunate I like 'em. Just never run into them smoked.

Beautiful looking avocados. Though I too am curious as to how they'd taste smoked.
