Day one. My captors have insisted on housing me in a Hilton, apparently the same class of facility used in Hanoi during the late unpleasantness in Cochin China. Travel here was rerouted via an obscure and distant urb named Burbank. Coincidence? I think not. I then paid the shuttle driver with a hundred dollar bill in lieu of one the twenties I thought I was giving him, so I was $80 to the bad walking into the barbed wire gates of the place.

In other news, made my shift at the SFWA table last night, emceed the Broad Universe reading, hit the Writers' Workshop reception, moderated the 10 pm Slightly Creepy Readings (downgraded from Midnight Horror Readings), hit the SFWA party, went back to the WW reception, then helped break it down. Also, I've volunteered for a game show panel this morning, after which my schedule will be wall to wall through the day and into the night. I think this is my heaviest day. At least, that's what I'm telling myself. Schedule here, an it please you to wonder where I might be found.

[info]mme_publisher had ARCs of Polyphony 6. The book, she is beautful. Traife Buffet Press (a/k/a [info]danjite and [info]khaybee had the production run of the Greetings From Lake Wu limited edition. The book, she is jaw-dropping. I signed the first 50 last night so we'd have sale stock today. They're at Cargo Cult in the dealers' room. Any online or pre-orders will be filled this weekend as well, and I'll have signed the entire run before I bug out for PDX on Monday.

Ran into plenty of other old friends and new. It's a WorldCon, ba-bee. Fun fun fun til her daddy takes the Thunderbirds movie away.

Y'all play nice.

Saw you from afar, but no chance to tackle you.

I shall today. You have been warned. *EG*

Just sayin': The Lake Wu and P6 are truly beautiful books. See you around the con, pal.

It was a delight having you be the first person I ran into that I'd actually met before. And those special books are FAN-FOOKIN-TABULOUS.

Ow.

At least the hotel provides free gruel for breakfast, right?

Gruel, yes, and think blankets woven from the hair of former writers who starved waiting for their book drop dates.

As long as the gruel isn't made with the bones of former writers...although it would answer a lot of those 'whatever happened to--? questions that crop up now and again.
