JayCon VII will be Saturday, June 23rd, from 2 to 6 pm (and continuing from there) at Flying Pie Pizzeria in SE Portland.

Flying Pie Pizzeria
7804 SE Stark Street
Portland, 97215
(503) 254-2016

[ Google Maps ]

This is also known as my 7th annual 37th Birthday Party. Here's a report from last year's JayCon, if you want to know what to expect.

I think I'll do badges this year, and maybe a program book. Feel free to post suggestions for JayCon panels.

Also, at his own request, Paul Carpentier is specifically not invited. (I think he wants to crash it.) Everyone else is welcome. We'll have guests from Thailand, Nebraska, California, Washington and Oregon, at least.

Absolutely bring the kid. Other kids will be there, including my niece, who's about the same age.

Panel suggestion: Deliciously Obscure Words Jay Has Not Yet Used in his Fiction and How We Can Hoard Them For Ourselves. (Note: you will be sent to the other room to order more pizza during this session.)

What about a panel on how not to get dropped by a publisher, chaired by some Scottish guy and a few small press big-wigs?

Heh. Indeed. "Small press big-wigs" seems an oxymoron, somehow...

For once I have actually marked this on my calendar well in advance, instead of remembering it on the weekend of the event.

Will be there.

I think. Must look at busy family vacation schedule (since spouse has figured out that summer is officially Vacation Time, he's going for it!)

We're dogpiling in Sinclair (the PT Cruiser), and headin' up...at least that is the plan for now. Expect more than Dave and me! (cackles wildly)

Oh, ya mean that thang called BayCon?
I have ::one:: table there. And commuting. Poor Sinclair is getting the workout this year.
Be careful with the beds at that new hotel, now.
Hope at least we can get together for at least more than one minute...

No, no BayCon for me. But I'll be in the Bay Area 5/12-5/14.

Cool! But wait, that's Mom's Day weekend!?! Don't suppose you'd like to come talk to my class on Monday, or are you leaving that morning? Yes, Frank can come if he doesn't say "crappy". (ha)
At least you know where I am, and let me know if you need my home and cell phone so we can touch base if not by email. If you're into Picasso, SFMOMA has a great exhibit.

Or, Asian Art Museum has a festival that day, and it has some workshops that would be pretty cool.

Hope to see you though!

I'm leaving crack of doom that Monday. I'll be in Thursday night, but I have to be down at CCSF Friday midday. I'm hoping to have a late lunch with your sweetie that day, but getting over the bay before your class ends will be serious challenge, methinks, even if I skip lunch with himself.
