rosefox takes some (quite legitimate) exception to numerous aspects of Mainspring Powell's | Amazon ]. One of the more interesting reader reactions I've received, to be sure.

At least now I can point to this as proof that I don't give my friends positive reviews just because they're my friends! *)

Wow! That's a lot of reaction to the book. Flattering in its own way that she would take that much time with it.

Not to disparage Jay or the book, but I write 2000-word LJ entries all the time. I also write and edit book reviews for a living. One of the reasons I was so happy to write up Mainspring is that I could structure and format it however I wanted! Ah, blissful freedom.

Having said that, Mainspring certainly did evoke, or provoke, a lot of reaction from me. I guess Jay just knows how to press my buttons. *grin*

Thanks for linking to that. She seems really intelligent, and now I'm going to read her blog.

Regardless of flaws, I'm still going to buy it ;) I got a look at it yesterday (indeed, I attempted to catch it, but it was too fast for me). I want a POSTER of the cover.
