Oooooh. Niiiiiiiice.

My only comment at this point is to wish that there were some bright element in the cover to catch the eye from a distance.

ETA: For those of you who've read the draft of Escapement, the scene illustrated is HIMS Notus (f/k/a Borborygmus) being pursued by the Imperial Chinese airship Shi Hsi-Chi (known to the Notus crew as Shirley Cheese).

You mean, like your name in red?

(very pretty cover!)

Actually, the text is silent on that matter, as the destruction of Strasbourg takes place offstage. So the options are open...

I'll figure it out for Tourbillion, if I wind up writing the third book.

It is lovely, indeed, but I was actually hoping for something, oh... brassier.

But than, I am a gear tropist.

Oh! I'm so jealous of the covers you've got! They're both absolutely gorgeous.

"Who is Jay Lake?"

"That guy with all the zeppelins on his books."

And that generalization is a good thing :)

Well, the title is quite bright. But glinting up the reflection on the dirigible and maybe elshwere might be an option.

However, it is an utterly gorgeous piece of art.

Quite lovely. You totally scored, Jay. I've been a fan of Irene's blog for some time, too, so it's fantastic when two of my favorites come together like this.

Both covers are beautiful, invoking both adventure and a wonderfully fantastic world. Mainspring's cover is predominantly green, and this one is blue. I can only imagine that a third book's cover might be reddish or yellowish.

I'm really enjoying Mainspring as we speak!
