I am seriously contemplating a 16 GB iPod Touch. Thoughts?

"Where does he get all those marvelous toys?"

Stunning amounts of ignorance here, I just grabbed the chance to quote Joker Jack. `Course, I still own vinyl albums, even though the turntable has been dead for at least a decade.

So it's an iPhone, just without all that pesky phone functionality.

Oh, and you can use it to buy stuff. But only 16 GB of stuff, that's going to fill up in a hurry.

Still, the opportunity to touch yourself while watching the Divinyls' "I Touch Myself" on your iPod Touch has to count for something.

16GB would be way to small for my music, tv show, movie, and photo needs. I've almost filled up my 30GB. I'll be waiting for a bigger model, methinks.

I've outgrown 40, 60 and 80. At this point, I've got playlists of stuff that I always want on the iPod, and random automatic playlists that (partially) fill the rest.

And yeah, I've been in situations when not having my whole music collection has been bad.

My reaction to the NPR tech geek's announcement yesterday that "The 30GB iPod can carry all the music one person will ever need," got little more than an annoyed bark of laughter.

I'd wait until there's an 80GB version.

considering how much you travel, I'd say it'd be useful.

Jay, buy it so I can get you drunk in the bar at WFC and steal it.

Please.

If you really want the Wi-Fi... then why not. But it appears to me the description of it as an iPhone without the pesky phone part is most apt.

Personally, I like my 80gb ( which is actually 74.3gigs according to the "about" information... hmmm... ) video iPod.
I have about 10 gigs of music on it, and that's roughly 550 songs. I thought I'd find the screen to small, but its worked well for me so far.

I picked up an "iLuv" battery unit, the adverstised battery life for video falls under the "damn lie" category. As an unexpected benefit, most people assume that it's a very old mp3 player, since the batter pack is big and clunky.

I get great battery life out of my viPod 60. For music, at least. I don't use it for video.

When the click-wheel on my old 40 died, I had the battery replaced with a high mAh unit at the same time. That has great battery life too.

No Bluetooth.

Sounds like the battery will have the same problems as the iPhone one, too.

I've yet to get a straight answer from anyone about whether there are any "limitations" to the Wifi. I would imagine not, but still. I've never used wifi at a Starbuck's so I don't quite get what all the fuss there is about. Isn't their wifi free as it is?

And yeah, 16GB seems a bit lean.

I hate Steve Jobs. A lot. I have a 60gb iPod and I want more space. But I want iPod Touch. Want. Don't need. Want. Damn. Hate Steve Jobs.

The clones are already hitting the market in Asia and have all the bugs worked out- including bigger drives, no AT&T allegiance and no DRM.

Looks mighty tasty, but the capacity leaves something to be desired. Then again, it looks way better than the iPod classic....

You could get one, but it will doubtless cut into your writing. You owe the world too much to let that happen.

HA HA HA HA. I love it.

I really can't add anything more to the discussion, except this. As soon as you buy it, you WILL want something bigger, stronger, faster. Sigh... I hate Steve Jobs, too.
