lasirenadolce and I were in the Gold Room at Powell's tonight (that's where f/sf lives) when we decided to drop in on my shelf section. Lo and behold, Mainspring Powell's | Amazon ] is Recommended Reading!

So glad I'm not the only one. Pedantry in person can be quite jolly (or one can take independent remedial guerrilla action), but on the webs it can just sound unpleasant. It's a hard life, being a determined slayer of the intrusive apostrophe...

(My favourite-ever example of the breed? On a board outside - of course! - a greengrocer: "Flower's. Bouquet's. Wreath's. Deliver'y." No photo, alas, but I swear this is true. With my own eyes I have seen it.)

If I visit the Pacific NW one of these days, I do want to check out Powells. I've heard good things about the store and have bought from them online.

The recommendation had not yet been posted when we were there (in June) but Mainspring was on the endcap even back then.
