[travel|publishing] Climbing the Tor

As previously mentioned, yesterday kenscholes, lasirenadolce and I visited the Tor offices in New York. It was a lot of fun, and very informative. We met a bunch of folks in the organization, saw some old friends, and got lay on an episode of "Cletis and Bubba Joe" over lunch. Ken and I are like Fozzie Bear and Fozzie Bear on tour. Luckily we brought along our own photographer.

The mighty Flatiron Building, where the palatial offices of Tor World Headquarters are located.

We breach the security seals on Fortress Tor.

Strangely, the lobby is full of books. What kind of place is this? Oh, look, it's Mainspring!

We tour the premises. We also bump into bram452.

Very Important People in the editorial and publicity departments. (Meaning, they work on our stuff.)

We were lucky enough to be invited into Tom Doherty's office, thanks to some quick thinking by pnh. Note the book behind him in the photo on the right. (Which I also think is an excellent photo of Tom.)

Tom was kind enough to open the window on the prow of the building so lasirenadolce could take some shots up Broadway and up Fifth Avenue.

On the way out, kenscholes and I stopped for a little street corner preaching, Mainspring style. Of course, the corner was Broadway and Fifth Avenue...

As usual, lots more at the Flickr set
