I can't make heads or tails of this video, except that it's sort of like a Jack Chick tract via Space Ghost, reviling Mormons in some kindly, reasonable-seeming Evangelical Christian code talking. There's some very weird SFnal images in this.

Man, this is perfect. Mysterious stars, (what the heck is a mysterious star? Aren't stars rather obvious?) demons as angels having a bad hair day, Roman Centurions battling Native Americans... and hey, who would choose a name like "Moroni" as a national saviour?

Gotta love religion's myths. Entertaining at the very least.

You're doing it wrong.

Transfer this to an iPod video. Stick it in your hat along with a magic seer-stone. Stick your face into the hat and watch.

It all makes sense!

Mormons have always said they're Christians. They just didn't (and some still don't) agree that anybody else is really a Christian...

Not quite.

Mormons believe that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is a Christian.

I think what you're thinking about is Mormonism's claim to be the only true religion. Which is vastly different from judging others' peoples' relationship with Christ.

Maybe my memory is flawed, but I thought Smith's original position was that all other Christian religions were abominations.

It's a bit disingenuous saying that others' personal relationship with Christ isn't suspect in the same breath that the fellowship that nurtures their relationship is an abomination.

Since Mormonism distinguishes between doctrines and relationships, I don't find it disingenuous at all.

For example, the doctrine of infant baptism is something that we believe God finds abominable. The doctrine of original sin, as well. Additionally, the idea of an eternal hell. All doctrines taught by various churches in Joseph Smith's time, and refuted in the doctrines of Mormonism.

Despite this, we believe most folks are doing the best they can with what they know. Most of my friends growing up were not Mormons (I was raised in Texas, Wisconsin, and Virginia). Far be it from me-- anyone, really-- to question the authenticity or sincerity of someone else's relationship with Christ.

What we question are doctrines. Not relationships.

So one can have a relationship with Christ, engage in abominable acts, and still be a good Christian? Or is it only some abominable acts? Who decides which abominable acts are really OK even though God finds them abominable?

It's a "logical absurdity," all right.

And I like how Elohim just rolls up to Mary's door in the middle of the night to get his groove on.

At the end when they're having the discussion about "Mormons", Battlestar Galactica comes up. They should have done their research, as Glen Larson, the creator of BSG based the show as an allegorical tale for Mormonism.

Me == Mormon

...and I found that video hilarious. Ridiculous in portrayal of my faith, but nonetheless, hilarious.

Star base KOLOB! SWOOSH! ZOOM! ZAP!

I love the sound effect when God points his finger at the window and opens a portal to our universe. WHIIIINNNG!
