It's done. 4,200 words today, to finish the first draft at 194,700 words, exactly five weeks after I began it.

I'll have more to say about the New Model Process and this draft in a day or two, once I've spun down from being on a hard burn. Green is going into the metaphorical drawer now for a bit, so I can recover from having written it, get some distance, and knock down a few other projects before I slide into the redraft.

Yay draft!

(Damn you, Jay Lake: I took five times as long to write a MS of equal length, and was pleased with myself, until this moment...)

All hail our overlord.

194700 words. That's a lot. Here's one you seem to have overlooked. Sleep.

Just jealous of your overwhelming creative vigour.

This is SO impressive. Did you reread any as you went along, or just press on ahead? (based on the word count and time, I'd guess the latter) Do you expect to find a lot of repetition when you go back through? (I only ask because I do, in my own work, when I write at a dead run, like in NaNoWriMo). Of course, you're a professional. :-) But I'm fascinated to hear about your process.

When do you show it to alpha readers?

Hurray! Congratulations on getting it to come together so quickly, and on this first stage of the new novel writing process apparently working out pretty darned well for you.
