The Smile Game — Telemarketing and you. (Thanks to lasirenadolce.)

Get Fuzzy on mind reading

Unmanned aerial vehicles the size of a cigarette — Ok, this is cool.

Bay of Fundie on the new ID movie Expelled — Talking about Creationist/ID critiques of "Darwinism." My favorite bit:
Science is in the business of attempting to disprove itself. [Ben Stein is] so fixated on Darwin that he has blinded himself to the advances in evolutionary theory that have happened since. No wonder he thinks evolution is outdated. He’s using a 150-year-old definition.

Ted Rall on the inherent dangers of Huckabee's Christianist anti-intellectualism — Much of what I've been saying. With convenient cites to Huckabee's own words. (Thanks to goulo.)

Yeah, the concepts of how evolution works has undergone some radical shifts. There are a lot more factors involved, particularly with some of the studies in the migration of genetic materials via virii.

Also, the whole concept of "species" has become much fuzzier.

Huckabee's scariest part is the ties he has to Bill Gothard of Basic Youth Conflicts. That's a group that seriously screwed up my brain for five years of my early adulthood. I need to write about that someday, I guess--I was lucky, I was just on the edges of it, but it still screwed me up big time.

Go look up dogemperor's posts on Daily Kos for some data--it's well worth the effort.

He's not the only one. I've been interested in the Evolution vs. Creation debate for going on two decades now, and almost invariably see something along the lines of "OMG Even DARWIN had a problem with (X) idea!!!" from the Creationists.

This to me is like saying that modern physics doesn't really exist because somebody wants to ignore Einstein and goes straight back to Newton.

Ted Rall is awesome. I've liked his work since I lived in the Bay Area in the 80s/90s. I need to get Ted Rall feed back into my feed reader. Thanks for reminding me!

Ted Rall on the inherent dangers of Huckabee's Christianist anti-intellectualism —

Huckabee's Christianity is ignorant in and of itself. He does not follow New Testament scripture, which says a resounding nothing about homosexuality. Given the lesson about casting the first stone, I suspect that is the real message of God through Jesus: mind your own business and don't mess with other people.
