charlesatan reviews Greetings From Lake Wu Powells | Amazon | Traife Buffet ] — Interesting perspective on my earlier work.

From this weekend, me on faith, RSI and literary style — As usual, the real action is in the comments.

garyomaha suggests this virtual keyboard as the solution to my woes — Actually, I think this is pretty cool, but it's a little too spendy for me to buy just for the hell of it.

Mysterious white rock fingers on Mars — Another fascinating APOD.

Shorpy with an awesome photo of a 1920s flying boat — If I was stupid rich (like, Paul Allen rich) I'd collect pre-modern flying boats.

Overheard in the Office — Some very funny stuff here. (Thanks to willyumtx.)

Actually, I've tried those fabric keyboards. The lack of touch feedback made me nurtz.

My style of typing would give any typing teacher the fantods. Basically, I'm a (corrected) 65 wpm hunt and pecker. But I am all about teh h@p7ic5.

But I want this! It would mean I could leave the laptop at home and just do everything on my smartphone.

And yes, I'm a touch typist. I'm happy typing with my eyes closed (in fact, sometimes, when I'm deep into the fiction mojo, it actually helps). Please please please, I so want this to work...

I need to find someone who's selling this so I can try it out.

Flying boats seem like a lot of fun. I've had a dream of owning an old Pan-Am flying boat since reading Jimmy Buffet's auto biography. Being able to fly from port to port and basically a giant floating RV sounds like the ultimate road trip, with none of the traffic jams.

Nah. The one to go for (IMHO) is the Boeing 314. Range was 3500 miles, but speed was 183 mph -- 19 hours. They had it fitted with sleeping cabins, pretty much an art deco liner in the sky.

You'd have to rebuild a replica, though, instead of collect one. All 12 have been broken up for scrap, more's the pity. OTOH, that might mean using more efficient engines of recent design (even if prop and leisurely), which wouldn't be a bad thing.
