Today will be hot, but not Africa hot like the last few days. (I say this as someone who lived in Africa for years.) I have no plans, but many goals. There’s a few hours of Day Jobbe work which must be done — very rare for a weekend, but sometimes it happens. I need to pack to fly off to Omaha in the wee hours of tomorrow. I need to straighten this place up, as it looks like a mail bomb went off around Nuevo Rancho Lake. A few bills to pay, and a check or two to deposit. I need to work on the next IROSF article, and begin the Tourbillion outline.

All in all, I feel vaguely like a normal human being. Of course, sleeping hard for nine hours last night might have something to do with that as well…

Do tell. Jay Lake in Africa. Sounds loaded with venturesome anecdotes loaded with awesome.

And speaking of hot, here in the Deep South, we're rocking the upper 90th percentile on the humidity. Just Friday afternoon alone, I sat on the front porch and realized the insects had stopped buzzing--they were stuck in mid-air by the humidity. I swam back to the front door . . .

Heh. I never have talked about Africa, have I?

My earliest memories in life are from living in Dahomey at age 3. It's a country which doesn't exist any more, but trust me, what I do remember is pretty damned weird.

We moved to Nigeria when I was 13, and lived there til I was 17. Yes, that all had a lot of influence on me.

Posts for another time...

Oh, and good luck with that humidity. I suggest cutting the air with a knife and stacking it in the freezer. Later in the year you can have summer sweatsicles.

It's been pretty beastly here the past few days, hasn't it. I suppose the heat's fried my brain because in keeping with your African heat theme I read one of your sentences wrong:

I have no plans but many goats.

I thought... huh, I didn't know Jay was a goatherd too.

So... buena suerte con todo, y... ningunas cabras, por favor.
