The Grants Pass cover — For the antho sale I announced yesterday.

How to download free books, music, and movies from local libraries — Interesting. Speaking as a consumer, I applaud. Speaking as a copyright holder, I go, “hmmmm.” (Thanks to lt260.)

Fresno man arrested in spice, sausage attacks — (Thanks to danjite.)

Using Cepheid variables to send information across galactic distances — Wow. Imagine the crypto requirements on that.

Top 10 Amazing Physics Videos — (Thanks to danjite.)

The Large Hadron Collider is a symptom of America’s decline in particle physics and, some fear, in science overall. — Yep, and I can really see how the know-nothing anti-science agenda of the Republican party is really going to fix this problem in international competitiveness. Liberal writers and publishing professionals have political opinions and they talk about them in their blogs! And then, and this is the worst part, they force people to read them!

Yuh-huh, right. It's a blog, opinions are sort of the point. And honestly, if a writer could force* their writing down people's throats doesn't he think they'd do it with the stuff the writer gets paid for, not blog freebies? Dude needs to get a grip.

*I'm not sure about the mechanism for forcing people to read stuff here--forced rapport telepathy? Whatever it is, it doesn't exist or the publishing industry would be in much better shape overall.
