For now, it was sufficient unto the day to watch the aerial battle taking place to his east. The British and the Chinese had disengaged and recontacted twice more today. Neither empire could have so much of an air fleet here, this far from their respective seats of power, but Boaz counted seven airships cruising for advantage. From the shapes, which were distinctive even at this distance, four were British, three Chinese. Artillery, too, given the aerial explosions which erupted from time to time.
The lion-and-the-unicorn had finally gone to open war with the Imperial dragon.
Boaz wondered how he should feel about that. These flatwater kingdoms were their own affair. Any denizen of the Wall understood this as a first principle. The Creator had provided His children on the Wall with an endlessly great amount of variety, while peopling the rest of the world with a greedy, squabbling monkey sameness.
