the_child and I just walked the two miles from my parents' place to Nuevo Rancho Lake, in the dark. (The Genre car continues badly snowed in.) Towed the computer and some other essentials in another jerry rigged sled made out of a banker's box and some coax. Mother of the Child walked out and met us halfway. Hitting the bathtub now for a warm soak.

Damn it's good to be in my own house. Damn I hate winter.

Dude! You should have called. I was out and about, and was back by three-ish. The Subaru was in fine fettle with chains. Would have been more than happy to lend a ride.

Didn't really cross my mind. (Though I *did* need the exercise...) But thank you!

No problem. For me it's a way of paying things back for all the folks who helped me out over the years with rides and the like.

That said, it was a really nice afternoon for walking in the snow. It's not bad, either, conditions-wise. I think I'm going to break out the x-country skis tomorrow (if I can get the bindings on this pair to actually, y'know, work, damnit!)

As you once said to me, all life is fodder (fair game) for stories. At some time in the future, I expect to read tales involving snow, cold, and long frozen journeys...

Good to hear you're safe and sound!
