LOL. Good genre top ten (I especially enjoyed number 5 - weren't we all?). There's another top reasons for being a genre writer that you might enjoy (it's different and a bit strange, but funny in its way):

I've read Dhalgren but since it wasn't in sixth grade, I suppose it prevented me from becoming a writer. Also, I was in sixth grade before it was written...

5. Read Dhalgren in sixth grade, scarred for life.

That's my favorite reason. I was much, much older when I read Dhalgren and I've still been scarred for life. Thoughts of that book will just come to me at odd moments. It doesn't seem to matter how long it's been since I read it.
