Since you phrased it in the past tense, the answer is "Ziggy played guitar," baby.

Currently, the man formerly known as Ziggy Stardust is in quasi-retirement in New York City. Today's whereabouts I'm not sure of, but there are hoards of fangirls who would tell you where he is and where they would like for him to be.
