Have some unexpected bandwidth here in the Beijing airport. I still need to write up yesterday's trip from Nanfeng to Beijing, as well as dinner last night with bridget_coila and prof_brotherton, along with Bridget's sweetie, the_child and my parents.

Now swanking it up in the JAL Business Class lounge here in the Beijing airport.

Also, the double-flush toilets in this lounge have the niftiest human interface I've ever seen in a bathroom.

And yes, I made a second trip to the bathroom to gather that photograph just for you guys.

I have a 34 hour Sunday today. See some, all, or none of you on the other side.

Big-and-little-button toilets are quite ordinary and common in Europe (with various arrangements of representing the big and little flush, including the one in your photo). It's quite sensible, and I don't know why they don't seem common in the US, other than good old US obliviousness to wasting resources.

Double flush toilets are becoming more common in the US, especially in institutional settings. Specifically it was the design of the buttons -- simple, elegant, obvious and very tasteful -- which I found interesting.
