Blogging from 37,000 feet here. I'm on a JFK-SFO flight, and it turns out to be one of those airplanes they've got WiFi configured aboard. I caviled about signing up for it (I like to think of airplanes as Quiet Places), then realized I never take this flight, so I may as well try this for the hell of it. So, erm, hello from the skies of Colorado.

Well, that's a 3000 mile flight -- not exactly a puddle jump, is it?

(Next year I get to do London to Melbourne, and I am really hoping that Qantas have wifi working on their Airbus 380s by then. Because that's 24 hours, give or take ...)

Everyone knows they're adding wifi to the planes so that the tracking devices implanted in our buttocks by our alien overlords can send back data over the interwebs even while we are in the air. Apparently they are not satisfied with the success of their experiment in self-monitoring, "Twitter."

And yes, it is kind of odd that aliens don't have transmitters that can work without wifi access. But you can focus on suspiciously flawed facts like that, or focus your attention on how to overthrow the bastards.

>>Up in the air, Junior Birdman<<

Your subject title reminds me of a former acquaintance who regularly made reference to that theme. I don't recall ever seeing the show it came from (and can't even remember what show it was). I'm trying to remember if it was a regional thing or (more likely) when it was on.
