Subject: [calendula] Strange days indeed

Very early this morning I got an email from calendula_witch, detailing the beginning of her emergency room saga. Various emails, phone calls and hop-to-its later, I headed for work (in Omaha) all packed and ready to bug out to San Francisco two days early. When I found out they were giving her morphine, I pulled the trigger on rebooking my flight. Spent almost the entire day traveling unexpectedly.

Meanwhile, discussing this with my spiritual advisor kenscholes, he mentioned that today was the anniversary date of my original ER admission for my cancer saga. The overlay of that with my intense concern for calendula_witch created an emotional turmoil which lasted most of the day, thankfully dissipating before I reached San Francisco.

Flights were troublesome, first leg delayed so I had to sprint for the connection, connecting flight held over an hour for maintenance issues, but I made it. She's home safe and well, though with no ultimate diagnosis. We're both going to be off work tomorrow, so she can take care of herself and I can take care of her.

Oh, gah!!! What a horrible, stressful day for all of you. Sending many many hugs, and hoping you've seen the last of the mystery pain.

Oh My. Hugs and good thoughts to you both.
Sorry we cannot come visit, but just as well we won't be able to. Sounds like you need each other, and alone time with each other would be the best now.

I am profoundly underwhelmed by the universe's sense of irony in this, I must say. I hope calendula_witch is on the mend, and you look after yourself, too.

Glad you're there. Glad she's home and feeling better. Follow up on this, kiddo. The docs will let it go if you let them.

When she posted about it, to be honest, your experiences last year were the first (and worrisome) thing that came to mind. I didn't want to mention it in her journal, but now that you have...yeah, you weren't the only one thinking of that.

Best to both of you.

I'm glad that she's out of the hospital. And that you have such an awesome boss as to let you leave early.

Best of wishes!

Just three weeks out from my own ER visit, I can certainly empathize. Thinking good thoughts your way.

Oy. Best wishes to both. The emergency room is one my absolute least favorite places in the whole world. Haven't been in one for me since the self-preservation sense graft took, but I've spent more than a few hours there for others in that time.

I noted this irony to K earlier. Were not in a place to send Anniversary wishes, glad Dr. Ken is on the job.
