The Bay Bridge is closed for repairs this weekend here in San Francisco. calendula_witch and I drove up to Diamond Heights to see what could be seen. From that distance, not much, frankly, but I shot it anyway. (Didn't have the long lens, darn it.) In this grainy image, you can see the Interstate 80 approaches from downtown completely deserted, a rare sigh indeed.

I'm not sure when it's going to re-open. I believe I heard on the news that they found a crack and they're not sure it'll be open for rush hour.

But I live on the east coast - might have heard it wrong.

Makes me think of end-of-the-world scenarios.

Better a crack in the I-bar than what happened in 1989...

Still, I'm really glad I don't commute to SF from the East Bay during the next few days.

Notice the nice, new giant Ionic Breeze installed by the foot of the bridge to help with our air quality.
