I have been lucky enough to see quite a few of those clocks and they are magnificent. The best place to go in London, moreover, is the clock room in the British Museum. But the king of clocks is the 10th century Chinese astronomical water clock -- no longer extant, alas, but there is a replica. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_clock#China
