This past Sunday, calendula_witch, the_ogre and I went to the old car picnic. It was awesome, if you're into that sort of thing. Plenty of mechanical beauty on display.

The field, seen from a bit of distance.

One of the owners, in the cab of a 1928 Ford pickup.

calendula_witch is sweetly tolerant.

And lots of design detail...

As usual, more at the Flickr set. Lots more...

Oooh, a Muntz Jet! Chicago-area car dealer Mad Man Muntz's contribution to the world. :)

Saw a customized one on "Chasing Classic Cars" on HD Theater the other day -- it was customized back in the day for a bandleader whose name escapes me.

You know, cars are fun, but I like faces better. That one man in the pickup? What a face!

Awesome car show! I'm still working on my gallery from Greaserama and will post soon. A friend just uploaded a bunch of shots from the Pavilions in Scottsdale, AZ's longest-running vehicle show: http://normalcyispasse.livejournal.com/379552.html

Oooh--I see a bullet nose Studebaker and an Avanti among your subjects. I have a GT Hawk and a Lark hardtop myself. I love old cars!

Nice whips!

Just for the sake of my curiosity, did you make the Avanti from the dashboard shot here in the post, or did you follow to the Flickr set?

A true Stude fan would recognize that dash anywhere! Avanti dashes only came in fawn or black, regardless of the color of the rest of the interior, so the turquoise console with the fawn dash is another giveaway.

Cool. Not a Stude fan myself in particular, but I sure like the sheetmetal.
