They're working on using bacteria as a vaccine for cavities, too. They're breeding bacteria that are more or less identical to the ones that live on our teeth, except they won't secrete corrosive acids. On introduction to peoples' mouths, they'll displace the original bacteria. It should be the biggest step in dentistry since the introduction of fluoride to drinking water.

Should also put a lot of dentists out of jobs (or, more optimistically, make the current and growing dentist shortage less dramatic)!
