calendula_witch talks about our weekend

Sarah Bernhardt's leg Art culture guru James Gurney with a very strange tale, indeed.

A Softer World appears to have broken into my head — As calendula_witch put it.

The year in materials — Mmm, science.

Auschwitz sign recovered — This whole story was bizarre.

Mumps outbreak in Brooklyn — Antivaxers on the march. Evolution denial is merely pernicious, sabotaging education, science and society, and undermining the future competitiveness of our culture. Wrong-headed and misguided. Vaccination denial kills children. Evil.

In some respects I think anti-vaxers are the crazies of the left (yes, I know there are right wing anti-vaxers, I've met a few--including a practitioner from that Worthington family cult who found the Catholic school my son attended to be way too liberal for his tastes), just because it does appear to get passed around a left-leaning crowd more easily than the right.

I had the mumps at the age of 10, and survived it. It wasn't pleasant. It was made worse by my father insisting that catching the disease was my fault. Apparently, for playing with a dog in Bushy Park. At least he didn't say that when I got the measles and chicken pox (not for lack of vaccination, but because I didn't get the booster shots).

Antivaxers on the march

I remember having the Mumps, and it was very unpleasant, plus I then passed them on to my Grandpa and its harder on adults.

Mumps can cause sterility in boys, so in a way, it does make sense that those folks dont reproduce.
