Enough with the weather already

We're under a flood warning through tomorrow evening at least, with ongoing heavy rain. This is unusual for Oregon. It rains a lot, but rarely in a heavy, continous downpour as began last night and is predicted to last through tomorrow. Normally we can have intermittent rain all day and get less than an inch.

Out briefly this morning in the Genre Car I stalled in some street flooding which was deeper than I'd realized -- luckily the car rolled out of the puddle and I was able to restart it a couple of minutes later. (I presume I managed to wet down the alternator or something.) There's been at least one landslide here in town, one of the Interstates has been shut down, and there's an avalanche warning in the mountains.

Ah, winter in the Pacific Northwest. Where's me snorkel?

Today in my mailbox I found Horror: Another Best 100 Books [ Amazon ], ed. Stephen Jones and Kim Newman. I am the author of the entry for The Manuscript Found in Saragossa [ Amazon ] by Jan Count Potocki (1813), tr. Ian MacLean. It's kind of cool. Joe Bob sez check it out.
