Misc Updatery Goes to Venus and Eats Oysters

Been a little quieter online lately due to the Big Push on Trial of Flowers. Lots more wordage last night. Went for another long walk with the Child yesterday, might post a photo or two later. We actually wound up at lillypond's house, where tillyjane was taking care of the Niece. A little homemade pizza was crafted by the children. Working today, then more kid, more writing...

A bit more fun with photos

My camera came with a cool "Photostitch" utility which unifies multiple images. So yesterday while out walking with the Child, I shot a short series from atop the UPRR footbridge over the Brooklyn Yards, facing west with a view of SE Portland in the foreground, and the West Hills in the distance, on the far side of the Willamette River.

(no subject)

I've been tagged by mme_publisher to reveal my secret eccentricities, or to name five weird habits anyway.

The Rules: The first player of this game starts with the topic "five weird habits" and people who get tagged need to write an entry about their five weird habits as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next five people to be tagged and link to their web journals. Don't forget to leave a comment in their blog or journal that says "You have been tagged" (assuming they take comments) and tell them to read yours.

1. Weird habits? What weird habits? Is denial a weird habit?

2. "I eat my peas with honey, I've done it all my life, it makes them taste funny, but it keeps them on my knife."

3. I often imitate the barking of lemurs when frightened in public.

4. I have been known to do the Time Warp in my car. With my car. So to speak. This has nothing to do with poor front-end alignment.

5. I sometimes refer to my father as "Your Excellency" -- an honorific to which he is in fact entitled. As in, "Would Your Excellency please pass the butter?"

Another stitched photo

This is a link to another "stitched" photo, per my earlier post which mentioned the subject. I stepped out into SE 11th Ave, which is the street immediately behind Rancho Lake (the house has two street fronts). (See a satellite photo here.) I turned slowly in a circle in the middle of the street, snapping about 20 photos, then put them back together with the photo stitcher application. Rancho Lake is the tan house near the left end of the photo, sort of rising behind the trunk of the Genre Car. Scroll to the right to get the photos' full effect.

Sleepy bye

A little over 2,000 words tonight, but I'm short of sleep from the earlier writing marathons of the week, and took time off for a nice dinner out with tillyjane and bibliothec. Expect to spend much of the day on TRIAL tomorrow, but I'm hesitant to set a wordcount goal right now. At least I'll have a full night's sleep.

Y'all play nice.
