Short story challenge update

Just finished "Crossing the Seven" at 14,100 words. (Unfortunately that's a bit overlength for the market, I'll either have to cut it down or beg the editor or both.)

That's only four stories so far this weekend on my challenge to myself, but a net of 22,900 words. I've got to run a few errands and pack later for tomorrow's trip to Omaha, so I'll be surprised if I get the fifth done, and no way on the sixth.

So word count wise I did well, but I fell short of my goal on finished drafts. Another update tonight, with some comments on writing process, short stories vs. novels, and rapid mental gear shifts.

Numbers updated due to my apparent inability to cope with simple arithmetic today.

Travelling to Omaha tomorrow for the work week. (Expect the usual light blogging as a result, btw.) 8-11 inches of snow is forecast for tomorrow. It will be interesting to see what happens to me. Continued snow forecast all week, with highs around freezing.

In other news, tomorrow is the first day of spring.

Last short story challenge update

Finished "The Leopard's Paw", 3,300 words of Robert E. Howard tribute in the style and tone of Almuric. That means I hit 23,200 words of finished first draft and 5 of 6 stories for my goal this weekend.

Kind of cool, really. More on this tomorrow.
