(no subject)

For some reason I was attacked by my hitherto unsuspected Oirish streak this weekend. I include below the cut my version of a Celtic song, sung to a very fast fiddle I suppose if anyone were foolish enough to try. A bit un-PC, and scans for heck, but then I'm a Sassenach and pathologically unmusical, so what do I know?

Lessons learned doing my six story challenge (long post)

As I mentioned here, with subsequent updates, I did a writing retreat this past weekend with a six story challenge. I wrote 26,200 words of first draft, with five finished stories. This was an interesting process, and it generated (or validated) certain insights for me about writing speed, productivity and career expectation.

Disclaimer: As many of you know, I have a day job in technical marketing. Therefore I have a tendency to try to reduce processes to numbers. I'm making a number of assumptions and SWAGs1 in this post. Take them with a huge grain of salt. I'm not making assertions about anything, even my own practice. Travelery

Still squatting in DFW. Our inbound plane hasn't made it in due to high, shifting cross-winds here. Meanwhile, Omaha's weather continues to deteriorate.

Publisher love

Just spoke to Jason at Night Shade. He's quite happy with Trial of Flowers (yeah!). Usual business process nattering, awaiting change list, egg setera. We're looking into some neat ideas to support the book.

Also, think I wrapped my head around how to fix Ye Spreadsheete today.

Happy now, even though the weather still sucks.

:: yawn :: Not sleeping yet

Turned the lights on to send a semi-important email which was keeping me from falling asleep, decided to drop back into the blogosphere for a moment, remembered I failed to mention I had two stories accepted today. Yeah!

One is a Sekrit Projekt to be named later (yes, that's two of those Unnamed Sales in the last three weeks), the other is flash piece "Clean" to zine The Drink Tank.

Am I asleep yet?
