According to the police report, in attempting to cover up the incident, the legislator said "he was just trying to put the cap back on the tube." So That's what the kids are calling it today. Mmm...family values. All I can say is thank God the liberals aren't in charge.

The Australian party was marvelous last night. I saw lots of old friends there, a good warm-up for WFC. A bumptious crowd hied off for Italian afterwards, causing me to completely fail to call rosefox as promised.

kenscholes arrives shortly here at the mobile instantiation of Rancho Lake. He and I and lasirenadolce are off to breakfast, then Tor. This afternoon we're heading up to Saratoga Springs in the rental war wagon with dueling GPS guidance.

For some reason last night I promised to lay on a cheese spread this weekend, so I have to figure out of that's possible in upstate New York. (Margo Lanagan drove me to it.) Somehow I expect this is do-able.

kenscholes met us early for breakfast, then we trooped down to the chimeric Seward-Lincoln statue in Madison Square before filing in to the Flatiron Building for our security processing, then being whisked up to the 13th floor. We hung out with editorial and pr, met folks all across the operation, spent some quality time with Tom Doherty in his office thanks to pnh, saw claireeddy, 2muchexposition, bram452 and many other folks.

A very nice Indian lunch ensued, then we drove upstate to Saratoga Springs. I got to speak to the_child about her Halloween costume, which was fun. I'm sorry I'm missing her again this year.

We did a little dinner, a little scouting, and now it's Con time tomorrow.
