Subject: [publishing] Amazon vs HarperCollins?

Next threat to Amazon's $9.99 books? Rupert Murdoch. HarperCollins edges closer to the fray. I'm not smart enough tonight (thanks to chemo brain) to even begin to figure out what this means, but it seems important. I strongly suspect Amazon's continued silence on l'affaire Macmillan has to weigh into this. What the heck is Bezos doing?

This one will hurt me as the US Edition of the non-fiction book I co-wrote is published by Collins. However, having Murdoch wading in will convince a lot of the kindle people that their viewpoint of "all publishers and their authors are evil" is valid

And if Murdoch wades in I think a lot of the Kindle people will find out how irrelevant to the final market picture early adopters really are.
