The EMA Fuelless Motor — High automotive weirdness. (Thanks to shelly_rae.)

If the Coen brothers made Star Wars

General Relativity Holds Up Under Galactic Test — Whew. Glad to know it. Seriously, some deep space science and cosmology geekery from Centauri Dreams.

North Korea's Race Problem — Fascinating article on North Korea, offering an interpretation of the regime there that I've never before seen. Also a terrific slideshow of propaganda art. (Via art writing guru James Gurney.)

Howell Raines: Why don't honest journalists take on Roger Ailes and Fox News? — Your Liberal Media.

Texas BOE Removes Jefferson From History Standard — WTF? I thought the Right was all about the Founders. Apparently the Enlightment (also stricken from the standards) is offensive to Christianist virtue. Confidential to conservatives in America: Without the Enlightment, you wouldn't be here having this argument. Once again, your cherished beliefs do not substitute for either data or facts. Unless, of course, you control the most powerful textbook commission in the United States. Are you proud of your Republican Party? Distorting history in a manner that would have made Stalin blush.

Texas astounds me, though I suppose it really shouldn't. Another facet of the Fox-ification of America. What is even more amazing about Texas is that Jefferson's ideals are more in line with theirs than, say, Adams & the Federalists would have been. Just too much free thinkin' all around among those Founders I guess.

Ed says "If you have children in school in Texas, I strongly suggest moving" but as one of his commenters notes, given the influence Texas wil have on schoolbooks nationwide there may be nowhere TO go.
