Lilith Saintcrow and I have discovered a shared passion for the movie Mystery Men. We also have a shared love of the mighty Herkimer Battle Jitney featured in that movie. Neither of us has ever seen a toy or a model based on that prop vehicle.

Any model makers out there with the mad skillz to build a pair of Herkimer Battle Jitneys to desktop scale? 1:48 or 1:72 perhaps? Not to mention the time and interest... Please let us know.

...I love that movie as well - but my model-building skills are very rusty.

I do remember when the original prop vehicle was auctioned on eBay; iirc, it sold for ~$10k.

Ah, woot. The good parts of that movie are so genius that the silly parts fade into insignificance. Jen and I have loved it long time.

I found a thread Genestealer Cult Battle Jitney 07/18 Update: IT HAS WHEELS! on a forum called Work In Progress that appears to be for Games Workshop modelers. It is a discussion of a Warhammer 40K modeling project for something very close to the HBJ (within game constraints) based off a model kit for the VW Microbus. So there is perhaps a start on some blueprints for you....

I'm still hunting down my modeler contacts, although I mostly know guys who paint, not so much do kit mods. But I might have a line on something, especially if you can give me a few weeks.
