"The Stars Do Not Lie" is done in first draft at 20,400 words. That's my steampunk religious lost colony story. Draftier than normal, due to the exigencies of writing on chemo, but perfectly fixable methinks.

I'm proud of two things at this moment. One, I estimated the story at 20,000 words before I started. And hey, look where I landed... (Yes, that has aspects of a self-fulfilling prophecy, but still, it's a neat trick.) Two, it's a substantial piece of new material written through chemo.

So, erm, go me. Rewrites to come, once I've turned in Endurance. The novel's next round of revision starts tomorrow.

Any chance you're looking for readers/feedback? I've admittedly not read any of your previous works, but perhaps that means I can provide a totally objective non-comparison related opinion. :)

It's more drafty than normal, and the ending is a bit borked yet, but sure. Pop me a private message via LJ with your email, and I'll send it along.

Jay, for being able to write and finish fiction while going through the torments and indignities of cancer chemotherapy, as well as the inevitable struggle with daily reminders of one's mortality -- for that, you deserve the greatest of respect.

This message, and several others the last couple of days, sure sound like the pre-chemo you more than many of the comments the last couple of weeks. Obviously, things are going (relatively) well at the moment. Hurray!
