Back to biking after a traumatic crashshelly_rae is profiled in the Seattle Times.

jpsorrow reviews Crime Spells — In which I have a piece or two.

The Vader Project 2010 — Well, that bent my head. (Via @Renovationsf.)

Strange Signs From Abroad

Mapping Ancient Civilization, in a Matter of Days — Cool tech, interesting application.

Somewhere over the rainbow... — A terrific rant about the GOP. Heh.

The dominant handSlackitivist on rights, privileges, and the folly of polls with respect to Arizona's new immigration law. As I've observed elsewhere, the law polls well with white people who can't imagine they might be subject to it.

Incident spurs call for school use reviewA city School Committee member says she's 'appalled' at how GOP guests treated a classroom. "...classroom had been searched. Republicans who had attended the convention called Principal Mike McCarthy to complain about "anti-American" things they saw there, including a closed box containing copies of the U.S. Constitution that were published by the American Civil Liberties Union." That list bit is especially bizarre, given the Constitution fetishism of conservatives lately, unless the ACLU has been editing the Constitution somehow. Stay classy, conservative America. it's what you do best.

As a teacher, if anyone using my room went through and messed with ANY of my materials, I'd go ballistic. Rearranging chairs and tables--one thing. Taking posters and searching through desks--totally inappropriate. I have confidential student materials in my files and I teach the kids not to mess with stuff. The same standard holds for adults unrelated to the students in my room.

Despite the traumatic experience, Clift has been anxious to ride again
Isn't that article an example of the common error where the word "anxious" is incorrectly substituted for "eager"? If shelly_rae were "anxious" to ride again, she likely would be avoiding it, right?
