Is lacrosse a common sport for US teenagers? (I think it's played very little over here these days.)

Also, do they call it lax at all, or was that just UK private-school slang?

It's not that common here either--more of a private school sort of sport. I've never heard it called lax but I don't hang with the kids in the 'hood'.

Her game was great fun to watch. The Child's team won 17-9.

Hee. I have no idea how that ranks, in common lacrosse-scoring terms (it would be a standard kind of score in rugby, eg, utterly extraordinary in soccer) - but it's clearly a drubbing either way. Yay her.
