PET scan today. Results are anomalous with respect to yesterday's CT scan. To be specific, the mass in my liver did not "light up" the PET. This may turn out to be cause for optimism, but I'm not going there yet. Next step (so far as I know) is still surgery, but we'll deal with chemo based on the pathology reports.
Much to think about.

That's good news. That means it's unlikely to be cancer. There are all kinds of random benign masses you can get in your body. I understand being cautious about the optimism, though. No sense going for unnecessary roller coaster rides.

... and various other appendages, dreadlocks if I had any, etc. Wait for pathology, okay -- we can do this.

So it appears that we get to play the "Is it alive or is it dead?" game again at Writers Weekend. Last year it was Michael Jackson, this year it's your tumor. Hopefully your tumor will go the same way as Jackson. (Murdered by a drug overdose, even.)

Cats purr when they're confused. This definitely falls in the realm of confusing.

Good luck. I hope the lab report comes back, "No cause for alarm".

May Schrodinger's lesion turn out to be benign.
(Saying it softly because I know you're not going there yet. Just putting that possibility out into the universe. I may be an atheist, but what'll it hurt?)

Right now I wish I knew more about PET scans. And the liver. And whether it is better to hope and have that hope crushed or live with dreadful uncertainty. Lacking that, hugs.

What a roller coaster! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is a benign mass. After everything else, it would be a blessing. ::hug::

I'm just catching all of these; I'm sorry and I hope the liver surgery/pathology doesn't indicate a need for more chemo.
I also wish some of the targeted therapies they're developing were available for you now, or better still that the "treatment" Kim Stanley Robinson proposed in the Mars trilogy were real.

You are going to be ok. This is going to suck for a little bit but in the end you will be ok. We are here for you.
