Finally back on the road for business again, for the first time since last October. Chemotherapy really does interfere with life. I have discovered this morning that wearing gloves and a hat into the security line trips some TSA protocol regarding pat-downs. Apparently peripheral neuropathy is a threat to air travel.

Omaha today, dinner tonight with garyomaha and elusivem, assuming the flight is on time and I haven't hit the wall somewhere along the way. I'm in all-day meetings at the Day Jobbe Tuesday and Wednesday. They've reorganized the company, moved offices and had a fair amount of personnel changes since the last time I was there, so this ought to be interesting. Omaha Beach Party will be Tuesday instead of Thursday this week due to further work commitments.

Friday I fly to Seattle instead of Portland, so's I can attend the last Clarion West party. calendula_witch will meet me there, then we'll head back to Portland Saturday morning.

Next week: New Jersey, via Philadelphia.

I was about to ask when you would be heading back east, but you already answered my question.

Travel safely.

At many (but not all) airports, if I wear certain dresses, I'm herded into the cow box as a danger to others. My attire is too TSA-provocative. Read that as slightly loose on my feminine form.

I think they expect me to explode with foul chemicals or some other contaminant, so I must be contained in plastic instead of just waiting outside like the men do, for a pat down.

It's very eye-rolling, and I haven't quite got Ellen Klages ovaries to just remove my attire.

Any chance you'll be in Philadelphia long enough to have dinner, and that you'll want to do so? (It's a relatively easy drive for me, and I would be very happy to see you.)

Cheers —

Yes, in fact. The evening of the 4th. Probably at the PHL airport Marriott, as I will be there without a car.

I need to make a post tonight or tomorrow about that.

If you would like to go to the Burmese restaurant, I can give you a lift. (I have to drive to get up there, as I live near DC.)

Rangoon

Philadelphia

Burmese, with some Chinese influence (not unexpected, though the amount varies from restaurant to restaurant). These people have a special fresh tofu salad on their menu, with tofu that they make themselves, and not from soybeans. The dressing has bits of kaffir-lime leaf in it, and the salad (not an American-style salad, so don't expect any cheese, shreds of lettuce, or chunks of tomato) is really good. Burmese food tends to be hot, but there are dishes that aren't. There should also be a certain number of vegetarian items for those who want or need them.

I forget the phone number, but they should be in the book and they may be on the Web. (If you want more info, you can call or text me; my number is at the bottom of just about every page at www.jossresearch.org)

Any chance you're opening that invite up in general? I don't wish to push, since we've only met once or twice and not so's you'd remember me (it was several years ago), but I am here in Philly.
