I hesitate to call it a fan letter, because they talked about how much they disliked one of my books. I have requested, and received, permission to quote the email for a longer post on reader reactions that I hope to draft this afternoon and put up on the blog tomorrow.
Finally, I discovered another odd bug in Microsoft Word, at least Word 2008 on Mac OS X 10.6.5. If I click on a pair of .doc files, Word will open. If I click on a pair of .docx files, Word will open. But if I click on a .doc file and a .docx file at the same time, ie a mixed-format pair, Word tries to open, then goes off into la-la land until I force-quit the application. Easily avoidable, but a tad odd.
