I went out a while today with a couple of cameras in search of scenic, which is hardly in short supply here on the Oregon Coast. Unfortunately, a rather odd combination of high wind, extremely heavy rain, and fog (yes, all at the same time) made this an impractical goal. I gave up at Nehalem and headed back up the coast. However, between Nehalem and Manzanita, I did manage to come across some amusing signs.

Just up the road from the previous sign, those lower two are a pairing that begs some significant questions

The grocer's apo'strophe appear's to have become the real e'state agent's apo'strophe

Perhaps it's not so much a possessive apostrophe as a contraction. He's only got one home, and it is for sale.

LOL, now we know where they make soylent green!

The apostrophe thing is pretty common out this way in advertising, as are misspellings, random capitalization and use of the wrong words. My favorite wrong word ad incident was a big local advertisement campaign for a new development in "Beaver Damn" instead of Beaver Dam (An AZ town on the Utah border).

He just needs to put "the" in front of "home's" and all will be fine. If it's any consolation, the weather's just about the same inland as it is on the coast (yay, Pineapple Express!).

Can't post it here (couldn't you post pictures in replies once upon a time?), but this reminds me of the sign in the Gettysburg National Park that says ONE WAY and has arrows pointing in both directions. :)
