Yesterday my throat started itching. Overnight I had a terrible time getting to sleep or staying asleep. A 3 am wrong number didn't help, either. This morning I am at the beginning of a fairly serious chest cold, it feels like. I've already canceled plans with the kenscholes family, and may not even have the energy and focus to write today.

As a result, the usual wit and erudition are postponed to a later date.

On the plus side, I watched a DVD of Inglourious Basterds last night. Enjoyed it quite a bit.

A big 'me too'. I started with scratchy throat and headaches a couple of days ago, then a low-level productive cough. Lots of vitamin C and cough drops later I was feeling kinda OK last night and then my little dog got sick (out of both ends) about 2:00 AM. Since I've had little sleep and today feel like death warmed over.

I'm supposed to have my grandkids here tomorrow. I sure hope me and the dog are doing better by then.

See. The. Doctor.

Seriously. I've been through this with DH and DS (DS with impaired immune system due to regular Remicade treatments). At least call urgent care. You're still close enough to chemo that this should be a concern.

Trust me. Been through this concern enough due to DS and Remicade (some of the Crohn's meds are watered down chemo).

Doctor. Call. Today.

This has been your friendly friend middle school sped teacher and Mommy nag.

On Christmas Eve? For a sore throat and moderately productive cough? All they're going to do is tell me to go home and rest and get plenty of fluids. It's almost certainly viral, so there's not any medication they can prescribe.

Call urgent care at the least. DS got put on Zithromax because of his Remicade status; you may want to at least rule out any need to take an antibiotic because of your recent chemo status.

Sorry to hear it! (The cold, that is; your opinion on Inglorious Basterds is fine with me.) I was hit with the sore-throat-turned-cold last week, and for days just couldn't get enough quality sleep to get ahead of it. I hope your bout is brief and minor!

Do take care of yourself, Jay! Here's hoping for a healthier Christmas than is the current prospect.
