Yesterday was a rather action packed day. the_child had basketball practice in the morning, so I hung at a nearby coffee house and worked on Sunspin. evannichols happened by while I was there.

The work was almost entirely editing and revising the first 18,200 word chunk of Calamity of So Long a Life so I could get it into La Agente along with the synopsis and some supporting documents. Most unlike me to be grinding into revision and rewriting instead of powering through the draft, but this project is so large that small errors now could multiply into vasty deeps later. As some of them in fact will, but I'm trying to avoid the avoidable.

Home for some leftover Chinese for lunch. Had an astoundingly strange and funny conversation with the_child which set new standards for my experience of NSFW parent-teen discourse. She has given me permission to blog it, which I will do later today or possibly tomorrow morning.

Then we were off to pick up our friend H— and go to the Portland Classical Chinese Garden. H— wanted some headshots for a project of hers. the_child and I brought two of our cameras and went shutterbug crazy. Plus a real nice light snack in the teahouse there.

After that we walked downtown to see the new Tron in 3D. During the walk some conversational confusion resulted in the discovery that H— had gotten Tron and Thor mixed up. The movie was entertaining but not very good, in my opinion. I've since been thinking of it as "the new Tron bomb".

H— and I dropped the_child off with her mother and had Mexican at the Iron Horse, before I dropped her off. By the time I got home and sorted through my evening ablutions, email and whatnot, the day had more than flown the coop.

Sometimes the day runs away, sometimes it takes us with it. Today I'm off to the chocolate festival. Thanks to the amazing tranche of sleep last night, I may not get any writing time in. But since I'd decided to play today anyway, I'm okay with that.

What did you do yesterday? Any chocolate in your future today?

I have some 80% Lindt with chili oil infusion.

Yes, it's as good as it sounds.

Tron sounds bad.

Thor looks possibly good - at least there is eye candy.

Mmmmmm.... chocolate.

I went to Sonia Lyris' birthday party, where there was a lot of chocolate. I had a half-slice of the hazelnut chocolate cake, which was delicious but insanely rich and which I probably would have eaten only half of regardless of whether or not I was watching what I eat. First chocolate I've had in about 2.5 weeks.

While I would like to do chocolate today, alas, it is not in the plans. DH and I went out to breakfast at Denny's (Santa Fe Skillet, yay, can be adjusted to my dietary peculiarities plus I like their morning crew for efficiency and fun), then went hiking on Mt. Talbert. Now I'm catching up with e-mail and such, planning to outline what I'm doing with the Sandy River flooding articles, and laying down the rough outline of a project based on the info I gathered yesterday. Not an immediate project but one I will want to be monitoring, gathering data, and hopefully writing short articles to be later gathered in one place for publication. Something in development, IOW.

Then I have to reserve hotels for Radcon and Worldcon, ride horse, do some work on my neurobiology class, and some other things. DH is traveling Monday-Thursday so I plan to make this a fairly intensive evening work week as well. Laying the foundation for that today.

Yesterday was a work from home day so we aren't going to talk about that.

Today is a play day - so far I've talked to my Dad about our Grand Tour trip this fall; looked at flights; realized yet again just how much this is going to cost; had slight heart attack at that realization; picked myself up off the floor and got excited all over again!
Greece! Egypt! Turkey! Italy! Twenty days away from work!

Ooh - chocolate. Of course now that you've mentioned it I don't have any in the house. A chocolate run would seem to be in order.

This is the "strike Xmas weekend". Going to be an incredibly busy week with Dave having the basal cell surgery on Monday, followed by other hilarity envolving my weekly weigh in, work and business.

On the chocolate front, we'll have to wait (and weight) for the SF Chocolate Salon on April 17th. http://www.tastetv.com/sfchocolatesalon_index.html

Come on down y'all!
