Divided my writing time yesterday between several writing projects. Critique, some WRPA, Endurance copy edits, reviewing the Sunspin outline preparatory to diving back into Calamity of So Long a Life. I feel like one of those cavaliers who leapt onto his horse and was dashing in all directions.

A little bit more of Endurance copy editing, and it's back off my desk, in the next day or two. And I squee over the cover illustration! Dan Dos Santos is like unto a god to me.

Today I'll be plumbing deeper into Sunspin. Probably I will not start writing until Wednesday, depending on how long I spend dealing with the outline and re-engaging with the existing draft.

I find myself mildly reluctant to re-embark on this project. It's the usual "jumping off into a novel" feeling. I'm just not used to experiencing the sensation in the middle of the book. But there's a great deal about this project that is unusual for me, so this is just par for the course.

One writes, one progresses. I love this stuff.

Very very handsome cover painting (although as a non-cleavage-focused reader and a former stage combatant, I have to wonder what the young lady is doing with that much skin exposed in a knife fight. Strikes me as hazardous in the extreme). It will sell books, you betcha.

As-written, she's pretty much covered in leather, like a motorcycle suit, for the reasons you mention. But the cover, it is pretty.

The cover is extremely pretty. It will sell buckets o' books. And I figured you for the sort of smart cookie who would not send his combatant out scantily armored. This amuses the part of me that fought a losing battle as a comic book editor: "No, seriously. With six inch heels she wouldn't be able to kick anyone, let alone run. And with the boobs falling out like that? Very distracting when you're fighting for your life." You will note that I am no longer working in comics, and the boobs are still falling where they may.

That has to be the title or the tagline to something...
