I want to wish a Happy Father's Day to my dad, and everyone else's dad, including those of you have a dad, are a dad or will be a dad.

My father is an amazing man who gives me a great deal to live up to, even now after I've spent forty-seven years upon this Earth. He is a retired ambassador, one of the most intelligent and perceptive human beings I've ever known, very kind, possessed of virtually endless patience, and is an unfailing role model to me.

I can manage to be one tenth the dad to [info]the_child that he has been to me, I will have been successful.

I love you, Dad.

If you feel moved to say something about your Dad, make post, comment here, or even better, call him up.

Happy Father's Day to Mr. Lake, both of you.

I'm also lucky in my father. He is an idealist who has lived up to his ideals in many ways, through his creativity, hard work, and friendliness.

My Dad died in 99, but he is still my Dad, and a presence yet. Just because I dont see him, doesnt mean he isnt there.

But it would be nice if he could still change the oil in my car, I do miss that.

I wish I could. Long distance doesn't reach that far, alas.

I wish I could call him. It would be really long distance, though.

Happy Father's day to you! I talked to my dad today. He will be two years cancer free in the beginning of July. Also, he told me that he's passed the mean age for men in the U.S. (75.6?) Anyway, he turns 76 in September. Considering that he's been through a minor (silent) heart attack and esophageal cancer, he's doing great. He's maintaining a health weight and walking 2 miles every day.

My father is probably the reason I'm in IT right now. He worked as a manufacturing engineer while I was growing up and he had a drawing board at home. I would sometimes ask him what he was drawing and he would always tell me. He never told me that I wouldn't understand what he was doing. He taught my brother and I trigonometry at home when I was 14 and my brother was 12. He always told me to find something to do that I love because he'd seen plenty of people who were unhappy with their jobs.

I love my dad & my stepdad, but the relationships are also fraught with disappointment on all sides. I know my own parent child relationships are messy as well. Fathers' day and mothers' day are always difficult for me.

A belated happy Fathers' Day to you, Jay.

As to my father, having died in 2001, it's a bit tough to phone him (and his response to things like Fathers' Day would tend to be on the gruff side).
