[cancer] State of the Jay

I'm at the quiet phase of chemo now. This cycle has managed to be free of dreadful physical side effects and complications, though I can't say so much for my mental and emotional state of the past week or ten days. I have felt better yesterday and today. But after a few more lunch dates, including a delightful one yesterday with [info]la_marquise_de_ and another today with [info]markbourne, I'm pretty much done with going out of the house for social purposes. Likewise, I already don't drive after 3 pm, and am about done with driving at all. (Neither the State of Oregon nor my physician has instructed me to stop operating a motor vehicle, this is merely my common sense talking based on my increasingly impaired situational awareness and reaction times.)

So I sit home, re-reading beloved books — currently the Discworld series in publication order — and watching things on Netflix streaming — currently Star Trek: Enterprise in Bakulavision. I expect to continue to become less interesting here on the blog over the next couple of months.

The next big thing is of course the CT scan on 11/7. The results of that will set the course of my life for the first three or four months of 2012 at a minimum. A lot of fear, a lot of worry on my part. We shall see.

For now, I sit and read.
