The article says, "Jackson could conquer the Bank of the United States, but he was helpless against such a massive wheel of cheese." Jackson didn't exactly conquer the banks. In fact, his experiment was such a mess and caused such a financial crisis in this country that citizens ended up minting some of their own coinage to deal with the resulting inflation and currency shortage, and came up with some scathing political satire as a result. What we know today as Hard Times tokens were actually used as money during Jackson's tenure in office, but they also provided pretty acerbic critique of his presidency. You can see a couple here.

(I love the Big Block of Cheese Day episodes of The West Wing. They always included appearances by wonderful character actors, and they always made their point with humor and grace. But then I always thought The West Wing was some of the best programming ever to appear on television.)

To be fair, after reading your link to the Romney in France story, I googled to find out about that accident, and it turns out Romney was not at fault. So the real story is that Romneyoids are trying to suppress information even in a foreign country. That's SO unAmeric-- ... oh, wait.

Just to be clear, I find Romney as vomit-inducing as the rest of the Republicans. Just hoping to avert misunderstanding about that accident.
